True Greatness

I know these are tough times and these times require great leaders to make hard decisions to weather these storms.
But great leaders are not forged in hard times rather they are discovered in them.

For true greatness is not the act of one decision but is the result of the secert life of someone who has yielded their soul to the Almighty in the hidden years of obscurity only to find themselves one day as the main act on the world stage of crisis

Musings

It has been tough..
Something I read for QT tod
Reminder as well as an encouragement

1 Peter 3:8-22

[8] Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. [9] Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. [10] For,
"Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from deceitful speech.
[11] He must turn from evil and do good;
he must seek peace and pursue it.
[12] For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
[13] Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? [14] But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." [15] But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, [16] keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. [17] It is better, if it is God's will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

When things get tough the tough get going

Just read this and it got me thinking
Not escapism, it is realism

"Remember that every good thing the world offers and every awful trial you may endure pales into insignificance in the light of what God has in store for you.
When life gets tough we are to be heavenly-minded. This is not escapism, it is realism. Our true life and identity lies in God"

I FEEL DUMB

ok.. the story goes.. we were having lunch. I started showing Kat the most amazing game i have ever played (which i eventually bought).. YES... ITS AMAZING.
(she claims she disagrees with me although I highly doubt so)
She saw tap of war and so we decided to play together

AT THAT MOMENT THE PHONE MAGNIFIED...
and no matter what I did, restarting and everything it couldn't unmagnify

I COULDN'T EVEN UNLOCK THE PHONE!

And so I went online to search for solutions
and i found this

"I went to different post and I figured it out. Its so easy I feel like kicking myself. lol tap the screen with 3 fingers at the same time! Thats it problem solved. "

!!!!!!!!!

I FEEL SO DUMB.............
OK.. no more tap of war using 3 fingers!

Musings

Read this somewhere
"Friend 1: I'm not a Christian anymore because shit happens.
Friend 2: Shit happens, that's why, I am a Christian."

What is holding us back?
Are we running away from problems or are we running away from God?
I wonder

Musings

Was out for a conference shoot today
Something that struck me was this group of speakers.
They did not speak right after one another but you would know that they are from the same "group"
The first speaker was the head and he had a signature way of talking
The two other speakers that presented after him had the same signature way of talking
I guess people do follow they're leader either consciously or unconsciously
We better watch they way we talk and act

Something funny really happened during the conference
I was going to fall asleep when suddenly I heard "If you agree with that can I hear an amen"
At that instant I was wide awake.
For a moment I thought I was at some christian conference
Sadly the speaker was greeted with silence.
Haha!

School of supernatural ministry

Ever since I knew about "school of supernatural ministry", I have always wanted to register and go for it
But because it is a 2 week conference, I couldn't go because I didn't have leave for it
I went for the 2 night meetings that they had and I thoroughly enjoyed it
I was just lamenting to someone that I would really love to go and she told me that it'll be good for me to go

As I was looking thru my mum's notes I really wanted to go for the thurs session.
But because I didn't register for the whole conference I didn't think that it was possible

On tues my mum messaged me to say that it was possible for me to go thanks to the blessings of the church.
And so I took leave just for that day (a blessing as well because I nearly couldn't take leave because a colleague of mine was also taking leave on the same day)

I went to the conference today
Something that I really want to do after attending, is that I want to do a video that can really impact this society
To really use the media to send out the right values

We'll post some of the pics and then will share more...

Love

Its another reminder that papa loves me
One thing I've learnt today
"love your neighbor as yourself", if we don't even love and value ourselves, how do we love others?
The first thing we have to do is find our identity in God and start loving ourselves first

What is it that pushes us? fear or passion?
Servanthood vs Passion
"when you are in love it does not feel like a sacrifice, its the passion that drives you"
Servanthood is not going to bring us very far, passion will

Whenever things go wrong, I'm going to remember Kris's grandfather
My papa loves me, that I know

As I was driving home I was listening to Kris's message on purity and one thing that struck me
"If its not for sale, don't advertise"
Going on to read the book
Its really not something that you hear preaching in church because its such a "taboo" word in our culture

Its really refreshing to hear truths being preached and given to you right in your face, not sugar-coated or packaged up for you
Totally different perspective and debunked a lot of "false teaching and religious spirit"
Really good feeding
Sad I can't go for the conference next week

Joy in the midst of pain

Very good teaching today

Judgement vs reaping and sowing

But what really hit me was pleasure and joy
"Finding joy in the midst of pain"
God help me

Sometimes things don't really go according to OUR plan
Really hanging on and seeking for God's direction
Holding on to the promise that "all things work together for good" although sometimes its really hard to understand why
His testimony was really powerful and real
Makes me realize that what I am going thru isn't really that painful

Anyways, heard and saw Vanness Wu sang "This is my desire" live today
He's really on fire for God check out his blog
http://www.alivenotdead.com/vannesswu/blog.html
He's on twitter too haha

No... I didn't stalk him. I just googled him when my mum told me he was at the conference

musings

met pastor Lim Gee Tiong for supper tod. He happened to be in town this week and was ministering in my godma's church and so they brought him out for supper. and so I went to meet them.

it has almost been a year already since I went to kuching and his church. what I had caught from him after spending a week with him then, was the discipline he had with his ministry. he sticking to his principles, his members following it because they respect him and not out of fear.

you can see how much discipline they have by seeing them kneel thruout worship. from the young to the old.

funny thing was that I didn't know who he was till I came back to singapore and saw all his cds and dvds in the christian bookstores.

but yes much to learn and long way to go

HOT!

I'm back in office after a pre-wedding shoot
Packed the office already and I'm STARVING, waiting for my pizza to come!!!
No words can describe how great it is being able to bathe in office especially when the weather is SO HOT!!!

Pre-wedding shoot was fun
Will be posting some of the photos soon :)

Father's Love

I love PAPA.. and PAPA loves me!!!
This is what I've learnt today
I;m just going to rest in the Father's arms
Having peace and not worrying about anything because my PAPA is BIG and so, that is just what I am going to do. Rest in my Father's arms

How long does it take to prepare a sermon someone asked?
He replied 10 years, sometimes 20
Why? Because God does not prepare sermons, he prepares preachers

Wedding speech

As I mentioned earlier in the day, we are gathered together on this beautiful fall day to celebrate a love story. A love story that has grown to the point that they not only in the presence of their family and friends but also in the presence of God, are about to make a live long covenant with one another. If you remember anything I've said today, remember, never go to bed at night without saying I love you. And my prayer for the 2 of you is that it won't be many months from now on that you'll wake up some morning and look across the pillows at one another and you'll discover two very important things. That you're married to your very best friend, and it hasn't been long enough

kimmie + trevor's highlights // toronto from StillMotion on Vimeo.

Nicest speech i've ever heard at a wedding by the pastor or a priest
"That you're married to your very best friend, and it hasn't been long enough"

Rome Day 1

I'm now sitting at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 waiting for my connecting flight to Rome
Its now 6:45am in Dubai (10:45am in Singapore), my flight is only at 9:40am
At least its a 3 hour wait compared to the original 5 hour

Flight journey was alright
I had the whole row of chairs during the flight to colombo which means that i had 4 pillows and a whole row of chairs to lie on

I just went to facebook and the new look is really weird
I brought the 40D so hopefully I'll be able to take really nice pictures

I'm REALLY bored now

Losing Patience

Its either I'm getting old or there are too many things on my mind
You can be telling me one thing and 5 mins later i can totally forget about it
It must be because I have too many things to do and have too many things that are going thru my mind
That is why I have a to do list everyday infront of my table
The first thing I do everyday is to write down everything I need to do for the day
Even the smallest and most minor thing that requires my attention I write it down

I am also losing patience at almost everything
From people asking me too many questions to having to reply sms and msns that I find redundant
I'm even too lazy nowadays to hold a conversation

I'm writing this because I am still in office alone
The rendering of my video is really killing me
It has taken me 4 hours to render.... and it is still rendering
Gosh! I think 1/4 of my life is taken up rendering
the other 1/4 of my life is taken up exporting
Editing takes up another 1/4
Burning takes up my other 1/4

I really am bored.. gosh..
Thank goodness there is a tv in the office
If not.. i would really be dying in office

You are the one

You are the one - Lincoln Brewster
Yes I am being exposed to a few new songs today at worship
Indeed Lord You are the One I will worship
You are the One I will serve all my days

You Are the One - Lincoln Brewster - Amazed

You're the One Who made the heavens
You're the One Who shaped the earth
You're the One Who formed my heart
Long before my birth

I believe You'll always lead me
All my days have been ordained
All Your thoughts toward me are holy
Full of love and grace

You are the One You are holy
You are the One You are worthy
You are the One You are the One everlasting
You are the One

You are the One I will worship
You are the One I will serve all my days
You are the One You are the one everlasting

You are the One
Jesus You're the One

Made to worship

Made to worship - Chris Tomlin
I heard this song today and I felt it was so apt considering what we have been covering in youth this month
We were indeed made to worship

Before the day
Before the light
Before the world revolved around the sun
God on high
Stepped down into time
And wrote the story of His love for everyone

He has filled our hearts with wonder
So that we always remember

You and I were made to worship
You and I are called to love
You and I are forgiven and free
You and I embrace surrender
You and I choose to believe
You and I will see who we were meant to be

All we are
And all we have
Is all a gift from God that we receive
Brought to life
We open up our eyes
To see the majesty and glory of the King

And even the rocks cry out
And even the Heavens shout
At the sound of His holy name
So let every voice sing out
And let every knee bow down
He is worthy of all our praise

God's Promises

Hanging on to the promise that He has made
Reminder that He has not forgotten

Psalms 145:13b
The Lord is faithful to all His promises
and loving toward all He has made

New Year

Its 2009!
The past 2 months really passed in a flash!
Caroling was fun
I think a lot of good voices were discovered

Camp was fantastic
It was really awesome to see the youth having fun
Seeing them responding to the altar calls and seeing their lives change after having an encounter with God
I think it was a glimpse to what we are going to expect at youth services this year

I guess it is a good start for the new year, can't wait for the first youth service
The official MERGER
Rest of the photos are on facebook
Will compile one video and photomontage hopefully if time permits
But I have to gather all the photos and videos first
Shout out to all the photographers and videographers that was "working" during caroling and camp
Please please pass me all the photos and videos
Big thank you to all first :D
